As President, Tiffany Sullivan will lead Optum Care Network (OCN) in Washington. Tiffany most recently joined OCN from Colorado where she served as President of OptumCare Colorado and New Mexico. Prior to Optum, Tiffany worked with national organizations focused on provider partnerships, growth, and operational scale in addition to time at the University of Aarhus Hospital in Denmark.
Vice President of Care Management
As VP of CM/UM, Shari Peterson will lead all operational activities of these teams and provide strategic guidance to the region as we make investments to enhance our care model. In her role, she will report to Dr. Stroud and will work closely with Dr. Mike Millie, SVP of Population Health, to support our regional efforts to improve patient outcomes and ensure our care models are sustainable. Shari most recently served as the Regional Director of Population Health for NPN and The Everett Clinic. In the last two years Shari led the regionalization of the Utilization and Care Management teams for the Everett Clinic and NPN to standardize work and integrate the teams. Most recently she has prepared for OCN delegation risk for 2021, combining the two IPA’s work and policy and program development. During this time, she has also led the clinical development and implementation of a single platform for the region to increase efficiencies and patient and provider satisfaction. Shari joined NPN in 2003 after working 21 years in health care as a practicing nurse. Shari has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington.
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Julie Stroud is passionate about developing and maintaining relationships with clinicians and helping patients more easily and effectively manage their health. In her role as CMO, she will lead all clinical and quality activities and will partner closely with our VP of Network on provider engagement and support and network performance and growth. Dr. Stroud is a board-certified family physician and has spent the last three years at NPN as Executive Medical Director for Quality & Clinical Services. Prior to joining NPN, she served as Medical Director for the Urgent Care Business Unit at MultiCare Medical Associates (MMA), overseeing a group of more than 110 urgent care clinicians throughout the Puget Sound region. Prior to that, she held several roles within the organization, including Associate Medical Director of Urgent Care, Urgent Care Physician and Family Physician. Dr. Stroud has a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University and earned her medical degree from Kigezi International School of Medicine.
Chief Operations Officer
William Krentz has worked as a critical partner with the OCN team in his role as Vice President Optum Operations within Optum Care. As COO of OCN, he will be the day-to-day leader of the services OCN provides our network. He will be responsible for all OCN operations overseeing both our local market and partnering with our Optum National team to ensure claims, referrals/prior authorizations, and other customer services are provided at market-leading service levels. William will lead OCN’s process improvement team and will partner closely with Dr. Mike Millie on regional innovation. He officially begins his role as OCN COO on Nov. 22. William has been at Optum since 2010 in various operations leadership roles, except for a two-year break to lead operations at Blue Shield of California. Prior to joining Optum, William led operations for a mid-sized health plan in various roles, including Claims Operations, Membership Accounting and Membership Services. William started his career leading IT enabled transformation programs with First Consulting Group and has had adjunct faculty appointments at the graduate schools of Johns Hopkins and the University of California at Irvine. While this team of leaders is directly dedicated to OCN, they will each work very closely with our regional leadership and teams across regional Shared Services, The Everett Clinic and The Polyclinic. At OCN, we will know we have done our job when our network providers think of us as an extension of their care team. This leadership team will help ensure we get that job done.
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Adam Bednar will support the increased financial planning and analysis needed for the growth and expansion of Optum Care Network (OCN). As PCN and NPN come together as OCN, the mission is to advance the foundation of care and support for providers to improve patient outcomes. OCN will focus on enhanced care models and value-based contracts. Adam joins OCN from Optum Colorado where he served as vice president of finance. He has a strong background in medical economics and experience in Medicare and commercial risk contracts as well as provider network planning. His past experience includes partnering with employed and contracted clinician practices while working collaboratively with medical and operations leadership. Adam has a bachelor’s degree in economics from American University and a master’s degree in economics from George Washington University.
Sr. Director Growth & Network Operations
David is responsible for managing physician engagement, growth operations, and innovation for population health for Optum Care Network. David completed his health care MBA at Vanderbilt University and a bachelor’s degree in Biology at UCLA.
